How To Get Free Metro Pcs Service Hack
Why PCs Get No Respect. Over the past month, we've seen some of the most interesting and most powerful personal computers ever. These machines are powered by Intel's Sandy Bridge chips, which promise a huge improvement in things like transcoding and encryption, as well as great integrated graphics; or by AMD's Fusion chips, which promise low- end machines with much better graphics along with good battery life.
Judging from the coverage at CES and the technology blogs since, the reaction has been .. I'm not completely sure why, but here are some ideas: One issue is that the PC vendors themselves don't seem that excited. Consider CES: Intel and Microsoft had big booths, and both had areas where they were showing a bunch of new PCs. But Microsoft seemed to focus more on Windows Phone and Xbox with Kinect than the PC, perhaps because it didn't have a new PC product this year. And although AMD had a good lineup of Fusion machines, it wasn't on the show floor, just in a meeting room. HP, Acer, and Dell had off- site demos, where they did show some interesting products, but you couldn't tell walking the show floor.
And of course, Apple never attends CES. Instead, most of the PCs on the show floor were from smaller vendors- -like MSI- -or they were relegated to corners of booths that seemed more focused on other things, such as huge TVs. Toshiba had an interesting laptop with a glasses- free 3. D display. And Samsung showed its impressively thin 9- series and the convertible tablet 7- series with a sliding keyboard.

At Apple, which used to be a pure PC company, PCs (specifically Macs, but those are just a type of personal computer) are now only about a quarter of the company's revenues. At HP, the Personal Systems group division accounts for less than third. Sure PC growth is slowing. But even in a . Despite faster processors, a PC today is likely used for pretty much the same things as it was five years ago. Sure the online sites are different- -Facebook has grown tremendously, as has online video- -but the machines themselves haven't changed notably.
Just as importantly, while the PC has long stood out for being extensible- -it's easy to add software to create documents, make spreadsheets, run business programs, communicate, and play all sorts of games- -now other devices are changeable as well. Smartphones and tablets with app stores make those devices just as flexible- -maybe even more so, since they are more easily portable. With more and better software and evolving hardware support, it's possible we'll end up thinking of things like tablets just as another kind of personal computer in the years to come. In the meantime, I was glad to see some different things, from 3. Free Hdri Maps For 3Ds Max 7. D laptops to thinner ultraportables; from sliding tablets, to all- in- one desktops with touch screen displays (though those have been out for a while now) to tablets with slide- out keyboards, or even two displays and no keyboards (like the fascinating Acer Iconia). Apple has a reputation for innovating in PC design, but with things like the HP Touchsmart, Acer Iconia, Dell Inspiron Duo, and Lenovo Le. Pad, others are trying to get into the game as well.
And that's what the PC industry needs- -someone to come up with a design that really captures everyone's imagination. Because now- -while the machines are getting better and faster- -PCs just don't seem to be getting much attention.
